Tips for Marketing Your Business on Instagram. Part 2: Promotion ideas (without paid ads)

When your Instagram business profile is up and running, it is time to start posting! As a business, it is obvious that you want to promote your products and services. With high quality pictures and videos you can showcase your new products or services and drive sales. Instagram offers a possibility to promote your business with paid ads, but you can be creative and promote your business in your posts in other ways as well. Here are 5 examples!



1. Host Contests and Giveaways

There is no denying this, everyone loves free stuff! Contest and giveaways are a good way to attract new followers and keep old customers engaged. Remember to target the giveaways specifically to your audience and offer something related to your business. Set the entry-criteria for your contest, for example liking or sharing your post or leaving a comment. It would be optimal to create a unique hashtag for your campaign to help spread awareness. One way to engage your followers is to ask them to take a picture of their own using your product or service and then post it on Instagram using the campaign hashtag.




2. Give Ideas How to Use Your Product

Create a need for your product or service! Instead of posting a photo simply about your product, show your followers how to use it. For food companies it’s a good idea to share delicious recipes instead of product pictures and for make-up artists it’s natural to do tutorials. Be creative!

3. Share Discounts and Promotion

You can share discount codes and special promotions to your Instagram followers. In general, people respond well to promotions when they paired with appealing product pictures. Showcase your offerings with a product photo and add text to highlight an offer or discount code.



4. Use Videos to Show How Your Products Works

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a video is worth even more! Videos are powerful way to show how your product works or tell potential customers about your services. Make sure to post only high quality videos to maintain a professional image.

5. Use Links to Drive Traffic to Your Website

The only official way you add a link directly on your Instagram picture caption is pay up. However, you can put links in your bio for free! Many businesses and influencers uses this trick to drive traffic to their website without paying for ads.
