How to Stay Motivated and Prevent Burnout

Starting a business can be extremely exhausting and time consuming. For that reason solely it is essential to balance your work load delicately in order to remain on task without feeling like you've hit a wall! Here are some essential tips to remaining positive throughout your work:

  1. Know your breaking point. Being an entrepreneur it can be hard to take your foot off the pedal especially when just starting up, however knowing yourself and when it could all just become too much is essential. When you feel as though you are reaching your point, take a step back, do activities you enjoy and unwind!

  2. Change your environment. Try to adapt your work around different environments. The change helps keep your work from feeling stale over time, and with the improvement of technology staying in one place hardly seems necessary anymore! The change in environment will also help spark your creativity!

  3. Power naps. Power naps have been shown to improve work load management severely, with a 20 minute nap being the recommended time to restart your energy and get back into your work, without feeling tired all day!

  4. Find a hobby. Hobbies are a great way to deviate your stress from working into an activity you'll enjoy putting some time into, and are a great tool in resetting your mental capacity so that you can avoid burning out!

  5. Practice ideal team management. Regardless of what you do, chances are you work with people, and as such a primary part of ensuring your work doesn't burn you out too quickly, is choosing those who you work with, as team chemistry is an effective method to feeling vitalised when working, whilst assisting in overall efficiency too!

  6. Practice meditating. While it doesn't have to be a perfect meditation or even for a long time, even just ten minutes of silent relaxation to yourself, can be an extremely powerful tool in clearing your mind and combating the stress of working.

  7. Find your passion. Finally, and probably most importantly, find something you enjoy working towards, a passion which you feel good working on will prevent you from feeling mundane or burnt out over time, as it genuinely continues to inspire you to work harder and push to be the best in your field. This is the single most important aspect of becoming your own entrepreneur.
