How to Use the Poll Tool on Instagram



Hi there and welcome back to our weekly series where we share tips and tricks how to market your business on Instagram! This week we are going to take a look how you can use poll tool in your Instagram stories. Instagram stories are free and effective way to engage with your followers. Asking questions on Instagram poll is a great way to communicate and gather useful insights straight from your audience. You can use polls to get feedback on your products and services or simply grab your followers' attention by creating entertaining polls. With this step-by-step guide you can start creating your own polls on Instagram stories.

1. Create a Story Create a new story by tapping blue + icon next to your profile picture. You can take a photo for your background or choose it from your library.

2. Add a Poll Get started by tapping tapping the sticker icon on the tool bar at the top of your story screen. Behind the sticker icon you will find a lot of different features that you can add your story, but for this instance select Poll sticker option.


When you click the poll icon, a YES/NO box will appear and you can type in your question. Default answers of poll are simply yes or no, but you can customize your responses by tapping the box and typing in your own responses.

After you have typed in your question and responses, you can drag the poll where you want it to appear on your story and adjust the size by pinching the poll. Feel free to ad more stickers, hashtags or text to your story, but try to keep it simple enough to make the poll stand out.

3. Ready to Share! When you are happy with how your story looks, just tap "Your story" to add it into your Instagram stories. Your followers can now view your story and are able to answer your poll.

4. Follow the Poll Responses If you have enabled push notification, Instagram will let you know whenever someone votes on your poll. You can see all of your poll results and other story analytics from Instagram insights or simply tapping the viewers from the bottom left corner of your story and swiping up to open up the story analytics. Tap on the eye icon to see the users that have viewed your story and see which option each visitor voted. It is important to remember that you can view your poll results only when yours story is live. Instagram stories disappear automatically after 24 hours, so make sure to check out yours poll results before the story expires.
